Shelter Program
Shelter Week for West Side will be Monday–Monday, September 27–October 4. Again, we have the opportunity to serve at Alpha House, Reaching Out in Christian Love, to homeless families. We thank the many of you who have helped in so many ways in the past. Read the sign-up information, posted at the main entrance, and sign up to help in whatever way you can and as soon as you can: money for food contribution; overnight stay; dinner; Saturday/Sunday breakfast or lunch; child care/evening activities; or Saturday/Sunday daytime. If you sign up, pick up a Duties for Alpha House - Overview information sheet. For more information call Jimmy Arnold, 222-4618; Burt or Sally Lamkin, 663-0300.
For
the past several years, West Side has been one of over 25 area congregations
supporting Interfaith
Hospitality Network, (IHN) in providing shelter for homeless families.
At first, we provided 2 weeks or more, each year, of shelter in our
church. More recently, a separate facility, "Alpha
House" on Jackson Road has
housed the families. 50 or more members typically volunteer each of
two weeks, providing food, childcare and overnight & weekend
service, at Alpha House
